Pilot Orientation Night

Limited to 4 pilots per session

Kodiak PADQ is this weeks featured airport

This exciting new service is targeted to pilots who are new to online flying and are feeling a bit overwhelmed to take that first flight on line. An experienced team of controllers will provide a relaxed and friendly environment for new pilots at one of our Class C or Class D airports. We will take the new pilot step by step through the entire ATC ladder from Clearance Deliver up to Center and back down through Approach and final taxi to the gate.

Beginning  on Sept. 10th. 2006 .  at 00:00 ZULU till 02:00 ZULU and every Sundayday there after, a Class D airport will be manned and ready to help you get your feet wet in this exciting on line hobby.  When you log on you will be contacted and assigned to a helper.

Pilot requirements.

We require every pilot to read through the information provided in the Pilot Resource Center . If you have not registered yet and received a user ID or password then please visit  Vatsim you will need all this before you can fly on line.  After exploring and reading through this wonderful training aid jot down any questions you may have and we will do our best to answer them.

All pilots will be expected to know their Flight Sim software and how to log on to the VATSIM network and park at a gate of choice .  We are not here to teach you how to fly your aircraft so please be a capable pilot, know your aircraft, it's controls and have basic flight abilities such as (Start up, taxi, takeoff, fly and maintain a heading and altitude assignment, land and taxi back to the gate,,,Hopefully in that order). If you can do that we will help you with the rest.

Down load and print out all the Charts, maps, runway, Departure and Arrival procedures for this weeks advertised airport. This information can be found at Air Nav.com . Enter the airport code in the ICAO code search block. (Note: you must have adobe reader loaded on your computer to view and print these files).

Most importantly, relax and have some fun. We will adjust dates and times depending upon pilot turn out and real life schedules.  Instructions will be provided on a first come first serve basis. We would prefer to use a voice channel  as typing instructions can consume a lot of time however, we will  provide the same service to text or receive only pilots.  If text and voice becomes to cumbersome then we will have separate nights or times for each.

Every two weeks we will feature another airport within the Anchorage ARTCC.  As the new pilot advances and becomes more at ease with on line flying we will finish instructions at Anchorage and hope that you will consider us your home base and fly with us often.

If you have any questions or comments please e-mail atc@ruminski.com . We will do our best to get you into the virtual airs of Vatsim.
